Alleviating Low-Battery Anxiety for Guests
Mobile phones are an integral part of our lives. From staying connected with friends and family to getting work done, we rely on our phones for just about everything and even more so when traveling. We store itinerary information, tickets, use maps to navigate and rely on easy access on their phone to get help on-the-go. However, when we're traveling, we often face the issue of running out of battery from extra use and limited access to chargers. This can cause anxiety and inconvenience, especially if we're in an unfamiliar place or need our phones for navigation.
A survey by LG of several thousand people found “Low Battery Anxiety,” a term they coined to explain the behavior of people when their mood and behavior is effected by their dying phone battery. The survey found that 9 out of 10 people “felt panic” when their phone battery drops to 20% or lower. This type of anxiety even has a name – nomophobia (NO MObile PHone phoBIA).
“Low battery anxiety is real.” states Wired magazine in a 2019 article. While it may seem extreme, the reality is our phones are a critical tool in our especially when traveling. If we can’t use our phone we can't access critical information or communicate with others.
After a day of travel when guests finally get to your hotel and first get into their room there’s a sense of relief when the see a comfortable bed welcoming them. Another inviting way to greet guests is with a friendly phone charger waiting for them bedside. Without needing to hunt around the room for outlets, look behind appliances or dig through their luggage for a phone charger, have a charger waiting for them to relieve the stress of travel and low-battery anxiety– ahh… sweet relief.
